Two separate Orange County motorcycle crashes occurred two weeks apart, resulting in death for both motorcycle drivers.
The first tragic motorcycle accident occurred on Friday, January 21, 2011, when 56-year-old Kenneth Emser was taking a motorcycle ride down Santiago Canyon Road. Authorities said that the crash occurred on a rural stretch of the road near Silverado Canyon Road.
The California Highway Patrol said that the motorcycle crash happened around 3:42 p.m., when Emser swerved off the road and landed in a ditch. Authorities still aren’t sure what caused him to swerve.
Emser, of Anaheim, was rescued by a helicopter and flown to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana. Unfortunately, he died around 5 p.m. due to his injuries.
The next fatal Orange County motorcycle crash happened two weeks later, on Saturday, February 5, 2011, when a motorcycle driver crashed into a parked pickup truck. The accident happened around 11:40 a.m. in Buena Park.
The 26-year-old driver, Maurice Kamande, of Huntington Beach, was traveling westbound in the 8500 block of Bluebell Drive when his motorcycle veered into the back of a parked car for no apparent reason.
Kamande was wearing protective gear, including a helmet. Even so, his injuries were quite severe, and the Orange County Fire Authority and paramedics treated him at the accident scene. He was transported to UCI Medical Center in Orange, and was reported dead at 12:14 p.m.
There was no indication that drugs or alcohol were factors in either of these crashes. Both accidents remain under investigation at this time.
