South Orange County Crash Sends Two Teenagers to the Hospital

On Friday, July 1, 2011, a Lake Forest teenage driver and a passenger were involved and injured in a single-vehicle Trabuco Canyon crash. The California Highway Patrol indicated that the crash took place on Santiago Canyon Road near Ridgeline Road around 1:18 AM.

Police state that the 17-year-old passenger was injured when he was thrown from the car upon impact. After an investigation, it appears that the driver, who is also 17 years old, was driving his 2007 Honda southbound on Santiago Canyon and crashed into a pole.

The driver was trapped inside the car, and firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life to free him. Fifteen firefighters and paramedics arrived on the scene from the stations of Rancho Santa Margarita, Portola Hills, and Trabuco Canyon.

Both the teenage driver and passenger were taken to Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo for medical care. It is reported that the driver sustained critical injuries and the passenger suffered minor injuries in this south Orange County crash.
