A Lake Forest pedestrian and car crash occurred on Thursday, April 7, 2011, when a car struck a pedestrian crossing Portola Parkway.
The crash between the car and pedestrian occurred around 11:30 a.m. late Thursday morning. The pedestrian’s name has not been released, but she has been identified as a female in her mid-50s.
A Lake Forest police officer called in the accident after discovering the pedestrian lying in the northbound lanes of Portola Parkway and Pauling Drive. Other police officers and paramedics arrived at the scene to treat the injured pedestrian. She was transported to Mission Medical Center for further medical care.
Authorities indicated that it appears the pedestrian suffered a broken leg and head trauma. She had been attempting to cross Portola Parkway.
Police said that the male driver of the vehicle apparently struck the pedestrian when he was turning northbound onto Portola from westbound Pauling.
The accident is still being investigated, and the driver of the vehicle has not been cited or arrested at this time.
