Police officers in Seal Beach, California were recently tipped off to the location of a suspected DUI and hit and run pickup truck driver. The driver was heard by others after the crash as he spoke on his cell phone. He told the person on the end of the line that he had been in a bad collision and the people who overheard it reported it to police.
The officers had already gone the scene of a vehicle vs motorcycle crash on Pacific Coast Highway and Anderson Street in Seal Beach. The driver of a motorcycle was down on the street but the driver of the other vehicle, a pickup truck, had left the scene of the accident. The motorcycle driver had to be taken to a local hospital. He was listed in serious condition there.
The police investigation showed that the motorcycle driver was going North on Pacific Coast Highway with the ocean to his left. The pickup truck was headed South on the same highway. The pickup truck driver is suspected of failing to yield to the motorcycle driver who was attempting to enter a private driveway.
The driver of the pickup truck, Mr. Nathan Teixeira of Bakersfield, California, thirty one years of age, was arrested and detained on suspicion of hit and run and causing bodily injury while driving under the influence. He was released after posting bail of $50,000.00.
