On Tuesday, August 16, 2011, a 21-year-old was killed in a single-vehicle accident in San Juan Capistrano. This Orange County crash took place around 3:40 p.m. at Marco Forester Middle School.
The Jeep crashed into the middle school, rolled over onto an equipment shed, and burst into flames. The driver of the car was able to get out of the vehicle, but the passenger died in the fiery crash.
Bryan Ferguson, of Dana Point, was the passenger in the Jeep and has been identified as the victim who was killed in the crash.
Witnesses indicated to officials they had seen the Jeep speeding through a red light and sideswipe another car prior to the fatal crash. The Jeep was traveling north along Del Obispo and was a few hundred feet from the Camino Del Avion intersection.
Authorities from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department are investigating the cause of this deadly crash. It is believed that the Jeep sideswiped another car, hit a curb, went through a chain-link fence, and rolled onto the equipment shed.
The driver of the Jeep was taken to Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo, but his identity has not been released.
At the fatal accident scene are now letters, flowers, and candles remembering Ferguson’s life.
The Law Office of John P. Burns would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Bryan Ferguson.
