On Monday, January 3, 2011, a fatal Orange County car crash took place involving a mother who was accidently killed by her daughter. Police say that this crash occurred around 11:30 a.m. Monday morning on Melrose Street in Buena Park.
The daughter, Sung S. Lim, 47, of La Mirada, was picking up her mother from a senior living community when she was hit by another vehicle. Lim was driving an Audi A5 Quattro on Melrose Street, between Knott and Western Avenue, when this crash occurred.
Police say that Lim was making a left turn into the senior living community, and was hit by a westbound traveling Honda Civic. Sadly, the crash caused the Audi to hop the curb, landing on the sidewalk where a pedestrian was standing. The pedestrian was Lim’s mother, 71-year-old Boon Soon Yang, who was standing in front of the complex awaiting her daughter’s arrival.
Yang was immediately transported to an area hospital, but she was pronounced dead.
Neither Lim nor the driver of the Civic, 19-year-old Priya D. Sha of Buena Park, was injured in this deadly Buena Park crash.
Police conducted an investigation, and do not believe that speed or alcohol were involved in this accident. Buena Park Police Department’s Traffic Division can be reached at 714-562-3943, if you happened to witness this crash. No arrests have been made, as police are still trying to figure out who was at fault for this tragic crash.
We are saddened to hear of this loss of life, and send our condolences to the family and friends of Boon Soon Yang.
