A tragic accident recently occurred on an Orange County freeway, killing one female in her early twenties. According to officials, this fatal Orange County crash took place on the 405 Freeway around 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 27, 2011.
The California Highway Patrol officials indicated that Deanna Mauer was traveling in her 2006 Hyundai when she got rear-ended. The car behind her was a 2006 Toyota that failed to stop when traffic slowed. When the Toyota slammed into Mauer’s car from behind, it forced her car into the 2006 Porsche in front of her.
Both Mauer’s car and the Porsche were sent into the center divider from the impact of the crash. Mauer was transported to UCI Medical Center in Orange with serious injuries. Sadly, she died around 6 p.m. on Wednesday night.
The accident is still being investigated. There is no information on the condition of the other drivers involved in the crash.
Mauer died at the young age of 23. She was a former softball pitcher for Central Arizona College and played for San Jose State as well as Team USA at the World University Games in Bangkok.
